Helen Muir, Director of the Cranfield Institute for Safety, Risk and Reliability, and the Professor of Aerospace Psychology in the School of Engineering at Cranfield Institute in the U.K.
She has used her scientific training in psychology to establish at Cranfield the only university department in the U.K. Specializing in Aviation Psychology and to develop a unique methodology for conducting research into factors influencing survival in accidents. The expertise and facilities that have been developed at Cranfield have led to its recognition as the focus for European cabin safety research and collaborative programs with manufacturers and regulatory authorities, both in Europe and North America.
Ms. Muir is one of the major figures in human factors in aviation safety worldwide.
