After receiving its first order in April 1999, Airbus' A318 is set to be in theoretical production only as the last A318 is scheduled to be delivered to a corporate customer shortly. The two remaining A318s that were on order were cancelled by their corporate customers in January, leaving only one A318 on the orderbooks. Approximately 233 A318s were ordered over the life of the type, but cancellations and switches to other types in Airbus' narrowbody family has brought this total down to 79. Nine have already been permanently retired, all 2002-2007 models from Frontier Airlines’ fleet. The remaining two in Frontier's fleet are expected to be retired as well.
