Flying The Gulfstream G650
All Nippon Airways says its Boeing 787 fleet logged a 99.3% dispatch reliability rate in its first year, as Adrian Schofield noted in his blog yesterday. The world did watch, and scrutinize, the Dreamliner’s entry into service, which went smoothly. The aircraft is doing well, and ANA has 66 of the aircraft on order. Rolls-Royce jumped on the congratulatory bandwagon today and issued a press release pointing out that ANA’s Trent 1000s have delivered a “dispatch reliability of more than 99.9” in the first year. Does that 99.9% figure seem high given that ANA grounded its fleet in July because of gearboxes problems on the Trent 1000s? ANA is operating 16 787s so far, making it the largest 787 fleet operator in the world. Photo credit: Rolls-Royce
