The Superjet 100 that made a wheels-up landing at the  Reykjavik-Keflavik airport in Iceland on Sunday will return to the test program after being repaired.

The aircraft was conducting a Cat  IIIA autoland test flight in crosswinds to simulate an engine-out approach. Sukhoi said "test flights to evaluate performance of automatic landing system with strong cross conditions are the most complicated part of the trials."

The company has completed more than 250 landing modes during this test program and is confident that it will receive ICAO Cat IIIA certification.

Aviation Week & Space Technology MRO Edition's July 22 cover story examines how OEMs, including Sukhoi, are taking different approaches--and why--to supporting their next-gen aircraft.
