Safety programs shouldn't be regulated, is one message Dave Cann, VP of regulatory compliance for AAR, conveys in his engaging Viewpoint titled "Survival of ASAP" in Overhaul & Maintenance's March issue.

He says trust is the most important element of Aviation Safety Action Programs, because without it, "ASAPS become less valuable and information is withheld; the philsophy becomes 'catch me if you can.'"

Prior to joining AAR, Cann was manager of FAA's Flight Standards Service, Aircraft Maintenance Division.

    He clearly knows this stuff.
