With just fewer than three weeks left in FAA's proposed repair station rule's (.pdf) extended comment period, about 90 sets of comments have hit the docket. For those out there who are both concerned about the new proposal and prone to procrastination, ARSA has you covered. The association has made available its side-by-side comparison and red-lined version of the old vs. new proposed rule. FAA's own analysis shows that about 1,840 of the 4,100 certificated repair stations covered by the proposal have 10 or fewer employees. Part of the reason the comment period was extended 90 days was to give these smaller shops--or any shop without staff dedicated to regulatory analysis--time to wade through the new proposal. Seems ARSA has done those folks a huge favor with these (editorial commentary-free) breakdowns.
