Using a technique of recontouring fan blades, super-polishing and use of a pvd coating on blades and air foils can improve exhaust gas temperature (EGT) margins and reduce engine fuel consumption by as much as 5%, according to Dr. Jan Oke Peters from Lufthansa Technik.
