The Luftwaffe chief of staff, Gen. Karl Müllner, recently visited Israel to be presented Heron TP, which is favored over Predator as there has been progress in the development of the Israeli UAV and the Israelis, unlike the U.S., will allow modifications, according to Spiegel.

German Defense Minister Thomas de Maizière delayed a decision on acquiring armed UAVs from this spring to after the elections in September amid widespread public opposition to their procurement.
