Guided by Air Operations Control Station Nieuw Milligen, the F-16s did not actually intercept the Tu-95s as they did not enter Dutch airspace, so the mission was aborted.

The last interception of Russian Bears by the RNLAF was by two F-16s scrambled from Leeuwarden air base on 21 March 2013.
