  • Boeing Keeps Al Baker Happy. Pressure Is Back On Airbus

    Boeing appears to have eliminated on of the greatest risks to a successful Farnborough air show by flying the Qatar Airways 787.

    The airline’s temperamental CEO, Akbar Al Baker, is keen to showcase the aircraft, which later will be flying on the Doha-London route. And he has made it no secret that failure to deliver in time would not go down well – Boeing will well remember Al Baker’s outburst following a 787 delay in which he accused the aircraft maker of being run by lawyers.

    The Boeing move puts the pressure back on Airbus. Al Baker says he will not take his A380s, due for delivery starting next year, until a final fix is installed to the wing component cracking the mega-transport has suffered. Perhaps placated on the 787, Al Baker will feel the need to vent on the A380.
