Airbus Military's decision to name the A400M the Grizzly has elicited some controversy here at the Farnborough air show.
Our friend, Tim Hepher at Reuters, reports that RAF boss ACM Stephen Dalton is not pleased with the name. "Over my dead body," is what he tells Tim.
But how much say should the U.K. in the decission? The RAF is not the largest customer, so shouldn't the naming honor go to that country? That, currently, means the Germans would get to pick.
With the U.K. having pushed through the Typhoon name from the Eurofighter much against the opposition of the Germans owing to the World War II heritage of the name, maybe they can return the favor and call the A400M the Gigant.
