  • Boeing, Southwest 737 MAX, NG Deal (By the Numbers)

    Southwest Airlines will formally discuss plans for its 737 MAX purchase at 10 EST, but here are the details the company is already releasing:

    -- Southwest will be the launch customer for the MAX.

    -- Firm order is for 150 MAX aircraft.

    -- Options taken include 150 MAX aircraft.

    -- MAX deliveries to start in 2017.

    -- MAX deliveries (now on order) to run until 2022.

    -- MAX deliveries can be -8s or -7s.

    -- Deal inclues 58 more 737NGs (includes 25 converted options).

    -- Deal brings options order book to 78 NGs.

    -- Total Southwest 737 orderbook 350 aircraft.

    -- 737NG deliveries in 2012, 2013 and some in 2014 will be -800s, not -700s.
