Following Qatar Airways’ Al Baker’s earlier public dressing down of Airbus, Emirates president Tim Clark has also jumped in on the smack down. In a one-to-one interview with Aviation Week’s Jens Flottau, Clark said that the airline “will not sanction an interruption” to its growth program. Clark voiced his frustration at the A350 program, saying “I cannot remember that we wanted a new specification” on the A350-1000. “I wonder why they did not ask us before making the decision.” He adds, “Airbus kind of assumed that we would take it.” He blames Airbus for Emirates being forced to operate its A330s and A340s longer than expected. “That’s the only reason why we don’t get that five star rating that the other guys have.
