A three-year-old who refused to buckle up prior to departure was kicked off an Alaska Airlines flight from Sea-Tac International, reports MyNorthwest.com."Kids crying, people snoring, large, smelly people, we deal with it, it's normal," said Mark Yanchak, the child's father. But the airline said "the crew was concerned because the boy did not want to sit upright and keep his seatbelt on."

In what is thought to be a "misunderstanding" a group of six were detained at Orlando Sanford airport because "they asked for a cup of water" on board an Allegiant flight. They reportedly raised suspicion by lingering around the lavatories, however, their request for a cup before entering the lavatory was to help with their ritual oblutions. The group, all muslim, were later released without charge, reports the Daily Mail

The Mirrror reports the story of "terrified airline passengers" on board a Flybe Embraer 195 that returned to Birmingham shortly after takeoff, due to what Flybe says was a "suspected minor electrical fault.” The passengers, according to The Mirror, saw it differently: "One woman was screaming her head off. People round me were using their mobiles to phone home and say goodbye to family."

Staying in England, Luton-based Monarch Airlines is giving a helping hand to passengers flying on new routes from Venice, Rome and Milan to the English city of Birmingham. The regional dialect of Birmingham, Brummie, is being included in a guidebook handed to Italian tourists "so visitors can understand what is said to them," reports the Birmingham Mail.

Turkey's parliament has passed legislation banning aviation workers from striking, reports Business Week. The move comes after hundreds of Turkish Airlines employees staged a mass sickie earlier this week to protest against the proposed bill that would take away their right to strike.
