  • 1 Day Away: 787, PW1100G Milestones
Posted by Lee Ann Tegtmeier 7:55 AM on Oct 25, 2012

What do All Nippon Airways, Boeing, Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney have in common?

For one thing, tomorrow, Oct. 26, is an anniversary of sorts for each. The day marks the first 787 passenger flight for ANA, which also obviously is a milestone for Boeing and Rolls-Royce (Trent 1000 engines power the aircraft).

Pratt & Whitney will finish assembling the first PurePower geared turbofan for the Airbus A320neo tomorrow, as well. (See P&W picture of the first PW1100G being assembled in West Palm Beach, FL.)

Both aircraft and engines feature new technologies and are designed to offer operational efficiencies. Which of these programs do you think makes the biggest leap (no pun intended CFM)?
