Iranian official news organizations report that a Caspian Airlines aircraft crashed in northern Iran. All on-board RV7908 are presumed dead, according to local officials, who put the figure of passengers and crew at 168 persons or more.The aircraft, a Tupolev Tu-154, departed Tehran on the way to Yerevan, Armenia, but came down in the province of Qazvin around 75 mi. northwest of the Iranian capital.The airline says it was formally established in 1992 and that it joined the International Air Transport Assn. in 2005. Iran has been plagued by crashes. The last fatal accident occured in February, in which five persons died. In 2006, an Iran Air Tours Tu-154 crashed killing 28.
