Flying Boeing 787
Qatar Airways 787
There were plenty of shaken passengers on an Air New Zealand Boeing 737-300 that had to make an emergency landing after its right-hand engine shut down during flight. Flight 417 departed Auckland at 9:30 a.m. local time on May 8 bound for Wellington, but landed in Hamilton instead. Passengers report that the plane lurched around significantly after the engine outage. Air New Zealand says early indications show that the shutdown was related to low oil pressure. The aircraft has been grounded for further investigation, and the passengers were bussed to Auckland. Here is a link to a local news report with colorful passenger quotes from the incident.
