  • Bandwidth Cost Too High
Posted by Lee Ann Tegtmeier 11:36 AM on Sep 21, 2012

A FedEx exec just asked speaker Jim DesPres of Google if companies like Google might be able to help them decrease costs of transmitting data. As aircraft generate more and more MB of data per flight, this is an increasing cost for airlines.

Jim agrees bandwidth is a big chock point and that non traditional companies might be able to provide competition in this area. It's an interesting thought.

Signing off from Aviation Week's MRO IT forum. It's been a great event!
