Flying Boeing 787
Qatar Airways 787
The 100th shipset of a composite wingbox for a 787-8 left Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ Oye plant in Nagoya Friday, five-and-a-half years after MHI shipped the first unit in May 2007. MHI produces the wingbox as a single composite structure that is airlifted by a 747 Dreamlifter to Boeing’s final assembly lines in Everett, Wash., and North Charleston, S.C. This one went to Everett. As of November, Boeing had delivered 35 787s this year, 38 total since All Nippon Airways received the first in September 2011. That was the eighth from Boeing’s production line, including six used in flight testing.
