Airbus today delivered the 12th A380 to Emirates. That's a big milestone for both.
The delivery means Emirates is not just the largest A380 customer --
with firm orders for 90 of the aircraft -- it also now is the largest A380 operator. That honor belonged to Singapore Airlines, which was the first A380 operator.
For Airbus, handing over 12 A380s in one year ties a delivery record set in 2008. The goal this year is to go beyond that -- and start leaving production woes behind -- by placing at least 20 A380s into customer hands this year. The target for next year is to get to 30 or more deliveries.
