Posted by Frances Fiorino 5:05 AM on Jun 09, 2009

The pilot-in-command of Flight 1549 will be the first witness at NTSB's three-day hearing that starts today, June 9, at 9:00 am. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger will provide flight crew's perspective of the spectacular Jan. 15 water landing of the Airbus A320-200 on New York's Hudson River.

Adequacy of pilot training for engine failures and water landings, as well as current standards for engine certification for bird ingestion will be among the safety topics under discussion this week.
