Three senior Burundian military officials are among those presumed to have died in the crash of a cargo aircraft that was taking off from Entebbe International Airport this morning.
Initial reports say the Il-76 belonged to Aerolift, which also suffered the loss of an An-12 on February 20, in an accident in which five persons died. Today’s accident occurred around 5:14 a.m. local time, with the aircraft on route to Mogadishu, according to the Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Center.
The casualty count could be as high as eleven persons, four crew and seven passengers.
The flight was carrying equipment for the African Union military operation in Somalia.
