Boeing expects the Rolls-Royce powered 787 to achieve FAA and EASA certification by the end of August, and for first deliveries of both the new twinjet and its 747-8F stablemate to take place in September. Speaking at Boeing's second quarter financial quarter results the company's CEO Jim McNerney also says production rate for the 787 is still expected to rise to 2.5 per month later this year, despite the recent hold-ups and month-long production hold. Still no confirmation on recent reports that delivery of the first stretched 787-9 has slipped from 2013 into 2014.
