Lufthansa is inching closer to getting its first A380.
The German carrier last week announced the names for the first two aircraft -- not particularly creatively named after the airline's hubs in Frankfurt a.M. and Munich -- with the painting of the fist aircraft complete.

Lufthansa is due to receive its first aircraft in May -- with delivery from Airbus's Hamburg facility. Service entry is planned for June.
Lufthansa says the A380 will be used mainly on routes to North America and Asia, but word is that the first commercial flight will take the German national soccer team to South Africa for the World Cup.
Unfortunately, it does not look like Lufthansa will paint the A380 radome to look like a soccer ball -- several of the airline's aircraft sported such a color scheme when the World Cup was held in Germany four years ago.
Lufthansa is the second European A380 customer, following Air France. It is the first European airline to use Trent 900-powered A380s.
