The A380 network got decidedly wider today.

Emirates has commenced flights with the four-engined mega-transport to Manchester in the U.K. The airline notes it is the first operation with the A380 to a regional airport -- a move that may make sense for a carrier buying 90 A380s but perhaps not for others.

Meanwhile, Air France has commenced A380 operations to Tokyo from its Paris Charles de Gaulle hub.

And Lufthansa says it will fly the A380 to Beijing.
