Flying Boeing 787
Qatar Airways 787
Flying magazine has published its list of "the 100 most influential airplanes of all time" - and you can view the photo gallery here. Now, as its name suggests, Flying is focused on general and business aviation - things pilots can get their hands on - so its list is heavily skewed towards the lighter end, but it includes a lot of civil and military heavy-metal too. Given that caveat, it's not surprising the Piper Cub comes out on top in Flying's eyes, but those perennial favorites the P-51 Mustang and Douglas DC-3 also come out high on the list, as does the Boeing 737. But whether you agree the Predator unmanned aircraft has been more influential that either the Concorde or the 747 - or that the Hindenberg should rank higher than either the A320 or the 787 is for you to decide. Sadly, I do not see the BAe 146 on the list...
