Retirements of older Airbus A320 family aircraft are showing no signs of slowing down. Seven A320s have been retired during the first 20 days of November, bringing the total number of A320 family retirements for 2012 so far to 36. There were 29 A320 family retirements in 2011. The seven A320s retired so far this month were built in the 1990-1993 timeframe and were powered by CFM56-5A engines. Most A320 family retirements to date have been those with older CFM56-5A and V2500-A1 engines, generally built before 1996. The most notable exception has been some of Frontier's A318s, at least one of which was parted out at the astonishing age of only 2.3 years.
