  • Air France Gets New 777-300ER; Its 200th Boeing Aircraft
Posted by Robert Wall 9:32 AM on Dec 10, 2010

When Air France first started buying the Boeing 777, there was a lot of pressure on the airline not to make too big a deal of it. After all, the French carrier should buy French aircraft, so opting for the 777 over the A340 was not looked on favorably in Paris.

But things changed and as Air France became more financially focused, the lower fuel burn the 777 offered and positive passenger acceptance led the airline to talk more about its fleet.

Air France celebrated the arrival of its latest Boeing aircraft, another 777-300ER (F-GZNH), which will introduce a new cabin. It is the 200th aircraft Air France has received from Boeing.

The 777-300ER arrived at Paris Charles de Gaulle from Seattle yesterday -- the first commercial flight is planned for December 20 and will inaugurate the Paris-Ho Chi Minh City route in January.

It is Air France's 56th 777. It is also the first with a new business class seat as well as other enhancements. It features business class, premium eco, and economy seats.

Four more 777ERs are due by May.
