The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is appealing for help from local residents in finding what could be a major clue to what happened to the Trent 900 engine on QF32. The ATSB has released the photo below of part of a turbine disk that was recovered on Batam Island just south of Singapore. Now, it is asking people on the island to turn any similar-looking debris (something that “looks like a geared disk”) in to the local police.According to the ATSB, "the recovery of that disk could be crucial to a full understanding of the nature of the engine failure, and may have implications for the prevention of future similar occurences."Photo: ATSB
