Boeing 787 Pilot Report
As I wrote earlier this week (AWIN subscribers only), Aeronautical Engineers (AEI) has received a supplemental certification from the FAA for its program to convert MD-80 family aircraft to freighters; the certification is for MD-81, -82, -83 and -88 models, and the prototype is an MD-82 built in 1987. AEI says it already has customers lined up for about 20 of them, with the first to be delivered to Alaska-based Everts Air Cargo, and AEI foresees a market for more than 200 of them over the next 10-15 years. Here's a look, inside and out, on what the converted MD-80 looks like. For a spec sheet, check out AEI's PDF file here.
