  • Direct From Farnborough: A320 Re-engining Plans
Posted by Sean Broderick 1:06 PM on Jul 19, 2010

An excellent piece here by estimable AvWeek colleague Robert Wall, filing from Farnborough, on Airbus A320 re-engining. A snippet:
The aircraft would be offered with a choice of Pratt & Whitney geared turbofans or CFM International Leap-X engines; talks to finalize the business agreements with the two are underway.

Airlines could also opt to retain the existing engine offering, but then would be flying with extra weight since the wingbox and wing will need strengthening for the higher weight engines. Total aircraft weight would increase 1.5 metric tons.
    More from Farnborough 2010 here.
