Reading that aircraft operate in "demanding environments" always makes me grin. It's a term used frequently, but it rarely is coupled with "maintenance" or "MRO." Why does the flying aspect seem to dominate?I read the term again this morning in a press release from Eurocopter, which is announcing agreements with Kazakhstan Engineering to create a 50/50 joint venture to assemble and customize EC145 helicopters in the country, and support maintenance and training in the region. It also includes Eurocopter selling 45 EC145s that will be assembled locally to the Kazakhstan government. The Eurocopter/Kazakhstan Engineering JV should be formally created in December and the first helicopter, which will be called the KH145, is scheduled for completion late next year.EC145 photo credit: Eurocopter
