I tried hard Wednesday to get Matthew Bromberg, VP and GM of Pratt & Whitney's Global Material Solutions program, to tell me when the "OEMRO" is going to announce its next GMS program, but he wasn't biting. During a presentation here at MRO Europe 2008 in Madrid, Bromberg said Pratt was wrapping up final PMA approvals for its CFM56-3 gas path parts. It has several of the targeted 29 PMAs already, as well as all 19 of the more difficult to get life limited parts STCs. Bromberg expects the remaining PMAs to be approved by year-end.
In the meantime, Pratt is in discussions with FAA about how to streamline the STC process, which took three years the first time around. And, Pratt is talking with operators about what engine to target next.
It's obvious that Pratt is getting its ducks in a row to launch a new GMS program, but Bromberg wouldn't even hint at the timing of an announcement, never mind what the engine might be.
My guess, and this is just a guess, is that we'll hear something in the second half of 2009.
