Part 135 operators led an across-the-board safety improvement last year, NTSB's preliminary aviation accident statistics for 2009 show. From the board's release:[O]n-demand Part 135 operations had the lowest number of accidents and fatal accidents for that type of air operation in the last 2 decades. ... The total number of U.S. civil aviation accidents decreased from 1,658 in 2008 to 1,551 in 2009. Total fatalities also showed a decrease from 566 to 534.Plenty more data in these tables.
