Today EASA issued an airworthiness directive for Boeing 737-100/20-0/300/400/500 aircraft that requires repetitive inspection, measurement and replacement, if necessary, of carriage spindles on mid-flaps. The EASA AD (2010-07-28) effective Aug. 31, replicates one FAA issued on July 27.

The EASA and FAA AD replaces an earlier one due to new reports of cracks and corrosion along the spindles.

FAA says 2,852 aircraft worldwide are affected.
