Boeing had hoped to annnounce a launch customer for its Component Maintenance Optimization (CMO) product this week at #MROAM here in Miami Beach, but that announcement now is expected next week, says Phil Coop, program manager. Boeing is in phase one of a planned three-phase development program. CMO, being developed by Boeing and partner Fujitsu, entails automated identification, tracking and manager of aircraft parts through the use of RFID tags and contact maintenance buttons, readers and software. Coop thinks the first of five initial products, Emergency Equipment Management, will launch later this year. Boeing is engaged with FAA and Japan's JCAB on certification.
