I just got back from a vacation in Budapest and was reminded of how Hungary has successfully created a low-cost manufacturing environment conducive to the needs of aerospace MRO companies. Between Aeroplex of Central Europe, BluePort Aircraft Maintenance, the aptly- and melodiously-named “Danubian” Aircraft Company, GE Engine Services and Lufthansa Tecknik, carriers can choose from a range of MRO services including: airframe and/or engine maintenance; component and/or aviation maintenance; aircraft interior work; P-to-F conversions; and even helicopter MRO work. In addition, Budapest is an easy to access city from any continent and the langos and Pelinka alone are worth the trip.
