  • Master Mechanic: TIMCO's Bill Hardy
Posted by Elyse Moody 4:59 PM on Nov 30, 2010

TIMCO Aviation Services mechanic Bill Hardy has earned one of the highest honors available to an aircraft mechanics -- the FAA's Charles Taylor award, whose namesake worked with the Wright brothers and designed and built the engine that powered their first successful flight.

Hardy began his career in 1960, working as a U.S. Army helicopter mechanic. He also worked with Eastern Airlines for more than 25 years, servicing most of the aircraft in the carrier's fleet. He has worked for TIMCO Aviation Services in Greensboro, S.C., since its founding in 1990.

The Charles Taylor award recognizes aviation mechanics with 50 years of experience in the industry and 30-years' work as an FAA-certified aircraft mechanic. Hardy's name will join those of past recipients in FAA's Roll of Honor, which is on display at its headquarters here in Washington.
