As you all know, Aveos, the Canadian MRO, abruptly closed on March 19. Air Canada, which relied on Aveos for about 75% of its maintenance, was clearly left with a big whole in its maintenance plan. Air Canada seems to have been doing a good job securing MRO contracts and keeping its flight schedule—even in the summer—without disruptions. That’s no small task. Today AAR announced that it signed a letter of intent with Air Canada to provide Airbus A320 airframe maintenance through a five-year agreement, which would extend through September 2017. AAR would do the work at its Miami and new Duluth, Minn. Facilities. The companies are working on the final terms.
