British Airways has finally confirmed it will go ahead with powering its 12 Airbus A380s with Trent 900s and 24 Boeing 787s with Trent 1000 engines in a deal said to be worth US $5 billion at list prices. As well as opting for the Trent engines, BA has also taken up Rolls’ TotalCare package. "We believe the support of the TotalCare package will significantly benefit British Airways' operations," said BA's chief executive, Willie Walsh. The announcement has boosted beleaguered Rolls-Royce with shares climbing 1.8pc to 666p on the FTSE100, making it one of the highest risers.
