EASA, acting on an Airbus recommendation, will order Airbus A330/A340 operators to install two Goodrich-made pitot tubes on aircraft outfitted with Thales tubes, the agency said in a statement issued today.Airbus issued its recommendation in a telex to operators yesterday. Airbus cited the in-service experience of the Goodrich tubes.EASA said its proposals "are based on pitot probe performance data which the agency has analysed in recent weeks."Last month, EASA said it did not have enough data to mandate the swap. The role of the pitot tubes is one of many factors being examined by investigators probing the June 1 crash of Air France Flight 447.
