  • FAA Fines American $7.1 Million Over Maintenance. Other Problems
Posted by Frank Jackman 8:42 PM on Aug 14, 2008

FAA today said it is seeking $7.1 million in fines against American Airlines for "improperly deferring maintenance on safety-related equipment" and deficiencies with drug and alcohol testing programs and exit lighting inspections. The proposed civil penalties do not appear to be related to the grounding of American's MD-80s a few months ago.
