  • Superjet Crash Questions

With the Sukhoi Superjet 100 crash in Indonesia, several questions about the program are in question as investigators try to figure out what went wrong on that demonstration flight.

The SSJ100 is a clean-sheet aircraft design featuring major suppliers such as Thales, Hamilton Sundstrand, Goodrich, Messier-Dowty, Zodiac Aircraft Systems, Liebherr, Honeywell, Parker and PowerJet. So far two airlines, Aeroflot and Armavia, operate the aircraft.

SuperJet International, the joint venture company supporting and selling the aircraft, is owned by Alenia Aermacchi (51%) and Sukhoi (49%).

It is not yet clear what caused the crash--pilot error, weather or other. From what I've seen, maintenance hasn't been cited yet as a possible cause.
