Australian maintenace industry: welcome to the new world order. CASA's new maintenance regulations are in effect as of Monday. The final rules, published in December after several years of writing and re-writing, cover continuing airworthiness (CASR Part 42), maintenance personnel licensing (Part 66), approved maintenance organizations (Part 145), and maintenance training organizations (Part 147). CASA's website has breakdowns of each rule, along with an e-learning program that walks through them.Among the many notable changes that the new rules bring: Safety Management Systems and human factors training in Part 145--both tightly aligned with ICAO SARPs.
