"Australia's general aviation parts manufacturing industry now has easier access to the lucrative United States market," due to amendments to the Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement signed between Australia and the U.S. in May. This statement, along with the rest of the short article in the just released Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia monthly newsletter, explains that Australian parts manufacturing approvals (PMA) are now accepted by the U.S. for replacement parts. While this new BASA agreement only applies to general aviation parts, the Australian civil aviation authority says "work is underway to extend the agreement to rotorcraft and air transport components."
