The National Transportation Safety Board issued its annual Federal Most Wanted list of safety improvements yesterday. In the aviation category, it focuses on: - Improving the safety of emergency medical services (EMS) flights- Improving runway safety (Look for an article in the upcoming November issue of O&M exploring retrofit products designed to reduce the risk of runway incursions.) - Reducing dangers in icing conditions- Requiring image data recorders in the cockpitNote: This year's list does not include "Eliminate Flammable Fuel/Air Vapors in Fuel Tanks on Transport Category Aircraft," which was an area of concern last year. It has been removed because FAA passed a final rule in this area in July. You can view the entire list here.
