Links to written statements for today's House Homeland Security subcommittee hearing on repair station security are available at the hearing's main page. A quick scan reveals few surprises from a policy/political standpoint, but some interesting tidbits nonetheless. Teamsters Airline Mechanics Union Chairman Chris Moore's statement (.pdf) includes a recounting of a trip he took to Aeroman, in El Salvador. His conclusion: the so-called heavy maintenance facility is really a glorified line maintenance shop, and its security--as well as that of the entire country--is questionable. ARSA's testimony (.pdf) includes a state-by-state breakdown of where the 4,122 U.S.-certificated repair stations are located, and how many people each employ (196,355 total; all figures based on FAA stats.)
