  • Fire Damage To Eurocopter EC155
Posted by Lee Ann Tegtmeier 4:27 PM on Nov 28, 2007

The U.K. Air Accidents Investigation Branch determined that a fire which broke out on a Eurocopter EC155 B1 in March while getting fuel was caused by a 28-volt DC electric hoist power supply shorting.

Fueling took place while the rotors ran, and the fire extinguished as soon as the pilot shut down the engines. The AAIB thinks moisture seeped into the connector because of a damaged seal, which probably caused the shortage.
