US Airways said in its most recent quarterly fliling that its mainline maintenance costs fell in the first quarter, due primarily to fewer engine overhauls "as a result of the timing of maintenance cycles." Total maintenance costs fell 10 percent from $174 million to $157 million, while maintenance per ASM dipped 7.8 percent from 1.03 cents to .95 cents. The carrier's total per-ASM cost rose 2.9 percent to 8.88 cents.
