Apparently not satisfied with the Senate's seemingly over-the-top foreign repair station inspection language included in the version of its reauthorization bill unveiled yesterday, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) released her own version of the bill (S. 1454). It includes even tougher language than that found in the other Senate and House bills--language that has already stirred the pot across the pond. Highlights include a call for two annual inspections, including least one "unannounced" visit, and drug and alcohol testing partout, per U.S. DOT rules, prevailing national laws be damned. Full text of McCaskill's bill is here (.pdf), courtesy of ARSA.
